ABOUT PRODUCTID 19904
This silver-plated brass sugar bowl, produced by Fraget in Poland at the beginning of the 20th century, features a cool, slightly matte silver surface with a subtle sheen. The round, gently tapering body stands on four small feet with delicately scalloped edges. A movable arched handle is attached to both sides with visible, sturdy soldered joints. The front is adorned with a finely engraved laurel wreath motif, providing a restrained decorative accent. The neoclassical style is expressed through balanced proportions and minimal ornamentation, typical of utilitarian tableware from the early 20th century. The construction is solid, and the overall condition is very good: the surface shows only minor signs of use and gentle patina, the silver plating is largely intact, and there are no dents or deep scratches. No evidence of recent restoration is visible, and all elements appear original. This sugar bowl echoes the era when the austerity of neoclassicism met everyday practicality. Its smooth surfaces and subtle laurel motif evoke images of morning tea at a refined table, with the silvery sheen softly reflecting the light and the cool touch of metal embodying attention to detail. Each trace of patina speaks of the passage of time and unhurried gatherings, preserving the atmosphere of historic bourgeois salons. The sugar bowl may be used as a refined accent in a classic dining room setting or as a standalone piece within an eclectic, collector’s interior. It can be paired with period porcelain or cut glass to highlight its neoclassical character. Combining it with other silver-plated objects—such as a tray or creamer—would emphasize its historical context, while in a modern arrangement, it could serve as a distinctive counterpoint, introducing a subtle note of history to contemporary minimalism.
