This French jewelry box from the second half of the 19th century exemplifies the finest achievements of European decorative craftsmanship. The rectangular form, with its precise proportions (height: 4 cm, width: 8.5 cm, length: 12 cm), is crafted from bronze with a gentle golden patina and enriched with guilloché sides, where scrolling foliate ornaments appear in rhythmic, raised relief. The lid is finished in multi-toned, brown tortoiseshell veneer, polished to a glass-like gloss; its centerpiece is an openwork medallion with a cool, silver tone, depicting floral garlands against a deep matte blue background. The box closes with a discreet latch, and the interior is lined with mahogany veneer to protect the contents.
