ABOUT PRODUCTID 42555
This neoclassical sugar bowl, attributed to the Buch Brothers and crafted in Warsaw at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, exemplifies the refined tableware craftsmanship of its era. The body, made of brass and tin, is meticulously silver-plated, resulting in a cool, silvery tone with a subtle matte finish. The cylindrical shape with a slightly raised base transitions smoothly into a domed, hinged lid topped with a finial shaped as a stylized leaf. Two side handles resemble laurel branches, while the surface is adorned with vertical fluting and delicate garland motifs, highlighting its classical inspiration. The interior is lightly gilt, with precise chasing and harmonious proportions throughout. The sugar bowl is preserved in ideal condition—no signs of wear, dents, or scratches, and all elements, including handles and finial, are original and authentic. This sugar bowl quietly recounts the story of urban elegance at the turn of the century, when table rituals reflected both taste and understated class. The laurel motifs, garlands, and radiating fluting, along with the subtle sheen of the silver-plated surface, represent a discreet homage to tradition and the skill of Warsaw artisans. The gilt interior evokes the celebration of daily gestures and the quiet charm that well-designed objects bring to the table. The sugar bowl can be displayed on an oak sideboard or a marble console in a living or dining room, where it forms a dialogue with historic interiors. It pairs beautifully with white porcelain or floral-patterned services and can be combined in eclectic arrangements with modern ceramics or glass, serving as a decorative accent with antique provenance. It may also be grouped with other late 19th-century silver-plated pieces to create a cohesive collector’s composition.
