This Northern European mahogany mirror, dating from around 1900, exemplifies the refined cabinetmaking of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The frame, crafted from solid mahogany in a deep, warm reddish-brown hue, features a semi-gloss finish that enhances the natural wood grain. Its rectangular, vertically oriented form is accentuated by an elaborately carved openwork crest at the top, displaying floral and scroll motifs inspired by the neoclassical tendencies of historicism. The sides are flanked by twisted barley-sugar columns, a distinctive decorative detail of the era.
