ABOUT PRODUCTID 19840
This pair of bedside tables, designed by Jindřich Halabala for UP Závody in the 1950s Czechoslovakia, is a precise example of Central European mid-century modern design. Made of wood veneer in a warm, medium walnut tone, they display a fine, evenly grained pattern with a semi-matte satin finish. Glass tops protect the surfaces while lending the forms a modernist sharpness. All surfaces are smooth and well-maintained, with no visible traces of damage or restoration. Exceptional joinery and carefully applied veneer testify to the quality of craftsmanship. The tables preserve their authentic character and represent the postwar aesthetics of Czechoslovak furniture. Condition: very good, with clean surfaces and minimal signs of use. These tables carry the voice of postwar Central Europe: functionality entwined with discreet meticulousness. The form signals a reserved, thoughtfully austere modernist approach, where detail and proportion are paramount. The walnut veneer – restrained
