ABOUT PRODUCTID 42787
This table nutcracker, produced by the Norblin manufactory in Warsaw in the second half of the 19th century, exemplifies the refined craftsmanship of Warsaw’s historicist metalwork. Cast in bronze and silver-plated, the nutcracker reveals a warm, golden-brown tone with a subtle matte surface, enhanced by a natural, dignified patina. Intricate, hand-engraved floral and geometric motifs accentuate both the robust, scalloped base and the finely decorated lever, reflecting strong neo-rococo influences typical of its era. The construction features traditional rivets and a fully operational hinge mechanism; an engraved signature and catalogue number on the underside attest to the authenticity of the piece. The overall condition is very good, with only minor signs of use consistent with age – all original elements are preserved and the mechanism is in perfect working order. This object encapsulates the spirit of late 19th-century Warsaw, when Norblin’s ateliers combined technical innovation with the decorative richness of the period. The nutcracker, a seemingly humble table accessory, here becomes a piece of functional artistry – every engraved line and curving form reflecting the touch of a master craftsman. The gentle patina, which over decades has highlighted the reliefs, tells a story of urban tradition and a time when even practical utensils were imbued with the qualities of small works of art.It may be displayed atop an antique console
