This office chair, designed by Ettore Sottsass for Poltronova in Italy circa 1970, exemplifies Italian modernism with an industrial edge. The structure is built on an aluminum frame with a four-spoke wheeled base, supporting a padded seat and backrest upholstered in genuine cognac brown leather. The leather has a matte finish with visible patina and creasing, also covering the softly padded upper sections of the curved aluminum armrests. Horizontal channel stitching on the seat and backrest creates a dynamic visual texture, while the wide proportions emphasize comfort. The chair features a swivel function, smooth height adjustment, and a robust, visible industrial mechanism. The brushed aluminum frame and base show minor signs of use, harmonizing with the authentic wear of the leather. Condition: very good – fully functional with vintage patina on both leather and metal. This chair speaks to the spirit of 1970s Italian design, where functionality met striking form.
