ABOUT PRODUCTID 37783
This openwork serving dish, crafted in the Fraget manufactory in Warsaw during the second half of the 19th century, exemplifies refined tableware craftsmanship of its era. The elongated oval form, measuring 37 cm in length and 22 cm in width, is made from white brass plated with silver, giving it a cool, matte sheen. The rim is adorned with a lattice-style openwork, while the central field features a fine guilloche pattern with delicate vegetal motifs. Two symmetrically placed handles, inspired by rococo aesthetics with foliate and scroll accents, add both functional and ornamental value. The dish rests on four low feet, which lend it a poised elevation. The solid construction is evident in the visible soldered joints at the rim and handles. The style combines neoclassical and rococo elements typical of late 19th-century European decorative arts. The condition is very good, with only minor surface wear consistent with age and no visible damage or restoration. There is a sense of Warsaw’s historic elegance in this piece, recalling a time when Fraget tableware graced both grand receptions and the daily rituals of urban residences. The silvery-white luster and openwork details evoke interiors where candlelight played in geometric patterns, and each element contributed to a sensorially rich table setting. This serving dish seems to whisper stories of an era when ornamentation was a sign of social standing and meticulous attention to detail.Such a piece could be displayed in a classically furnished dining room or placed as a singular accent in a modern setting, where its historical character introduces a refined counterpoint. It works well as a standalone object on a console, sideboard, or dining table, in the company of crystal
