ABOUT PRODUCTID 3767
This Japanese chest, dating from the early 20th century, represents the refined craftsmanship of the Meiji era—a period when tradition met global influences in Japanese art. Crafted from wood and finished in a deep, reddish-brown lacquer with a semi-gloss sheen, it is adorned with intricate painted motifs: a fan, coral branch, and stylized flora and fauna, punctuated with delicate gilded details and vivid red accents. The front features relief decoration and patinated copper fittings, engraved on the corners, hinges, and handles. The chest bears an artist’s signature on its reverse. Inside, several drawers are revealed, two shaped like fruits, with the lower drawer fitted with dual handles. Gently curved legs lend the piece an airy elegance.
