This hand-knotted Chinese rug, crafted entirely from natural silk, measures 125 by 235 cm including the fringes. With a knot density of approximately 250,000 knots per square meter and a pile thickness of around 10 mm, the rug features a compact, low, and distinctly lustrous surface. The main color is a warm, medium brown, complemented by a rich palette of accents—cream, beige, gold, navy blue, light blue, soft pink, and muted green. The composition is adorned with intricate floral and symbolic motifs typical of traditional Chinese design from the late Qing and early Republic period. The border showcases a classic oriental pattern with stylized clouds, flowers, and a geometric Greek key motif. The edges are finished with hand-knotted white silk fringes. The rug is preserved in excellent condition, with no visible signs of wear, damage, or restoration. The silken sheen of this rug carries echoes of bygone Chinese salons and imperial palaces.
