This handwoven Chinese rug, crafted entirely from natural silk, exemplifies contemporary oriental artistry. It features a lustrous, dense pile with a very fine and tight weave—approximately 250,000 knots per square meter. The main field is rendered in a warm, light beige tone with a characteristic silk sheen, surrounded by a wide, dark brown border intricately woven with floral and scrolling vine motifs in shades of olive green, muted red, and beige. The composition is completed by three symmetrically placed medallions with stylized animal motifs in cream, red, and blue— the central medallion stands out with a more vivid blue and red palette.
