ABOUT PRODUCTID 1989
‘Biesiada w lesie’ (Feast in the Forest) is a tempera painting created by Czech artist and illustrator E. Jeschke in 1937. Executed in tempera on paper, the work features a matte, subtly smooth surface where deep, cool forest greens and blues are contrasted by vibrant accents of red and yellow. The scene depicts fairy-tale characters—gnomes or elves—gathered around a rustic round table, surrounded by stylized animals: a red bear, rabbit, white dog, and deer, with an owl and butterflies hovering above. The vertical composition is framed by tall, stylized tree trunks leading the eye upward toward the moon. The illustrative style, marked by clear Art Deco influences in the geometric forms and decorative details, echoes the visual language of early 20th-century Central European book art. The piece is signed by the artist in the lower right corner and is set behind glass in a dark, nearly black wooden frame with a gold inner edge. Artwork dimensions: 38 × 26 cm; frame dimensions: 47.5 ×
