ABOUT PRODUCTID 9386
The pair of armchairs model 345 were designed by Janina Jędrachowicz and Konrad Racinowski in mid-1950s Poznań and produced by Poznań Furniture Factories. The construction is based on solid, tapered legs and sculpted armrests made of solid wood, stained in a medium oak tone with a distinct natural grain. The seat and backrest are upholstered in high-quality, light grey fabric with a matte finish and a subtly textured surface. A thick, decorative twisted cord in contrasting grey and white outlines the seat, back, and cushion edges, adding a refined accent. The proportions are harmonious, the silhouette soft and gently rounded, characteristic of Polish mid-century modernism. The armchairs have undergone complete restoration, including carpentry and upholstery work, with all inner fillings replaced, wood cleaned and stained, and every detail meticulously recreated. They are preserved in excellent condition, with no signs of wear or patina. These armchairs carry the narrative of postwar Poland’s optimism and creative search for a design language within the modernist movement. Their soft lines and thoughtful construction reflect the spirit of a new generation of designers, debuting at the Poznań trade fair in 1956 and captivating both the public and the industry. The subtle colour palette and decorative piping echo a time when modern comfort began entering Polish homes, and craftsmanship merged with the vision of young architects. The armchairs could serve as the focal point of a living room relaxation area—ideally paired with a low, lightweight coffee table or a minimalist 1950s floor lamp. They would fit seamlessly into interiors inspired by mid-century modern style as well as eclectic collector’s spaces, where their sculptural lines are appreciated. They are best showcased against light-coloured walls, accompanied by understated textiles
