This pair of armchairs, designed by Jaroslav Šmidek for the TON factory in the 1960s (Model 53), is a clear example of mid-century Czechoslovak modernism. The chairs feature a solid construction, balanced proportions, and refined detailing: a gently reclined backrest, wide seat, and distinctive, curved armrests crafted from bent beech wood.
