ABOUT PRODUCTID 42139
This pair of Danish bedside tables from the 1960s is a quintessential example of Scandinavian modernism, where function meets the restrained elegance of form. The cabinets are crafted from medium-toned teak veneer, highlighting the natural wood grain with a matte, slightly satin finish that brings out the wood's fine texture. Each table features three drawers with organically sculpted solid wood handles in a lighter, honey-brown shade, providing a subtle accent against the geometric silhouette. The legs, splayed at an angle and finished in deep matte black, visually lift the teak bodies and create a striking contrast. The construction is compact and geometric, defined by sharp edges and precise joinery, in keeping with Danish design from this era. Surfaces are smooth, with a delicate wood grain visible throughout. The overall condition is good – minor scratches, small dents, and professionally filled losses are present, but do not detract from the authentic character of the set. These tables resonate with the spirit of the 1960s, an era when Scandinavian modernism set new benchmarks for everyday comfort and refined aesthetics. The forms speak of utility without excess, while the sculpted handles echo a craftsman's attention to detail. The interplay between the black legs and warm teak suggests a dialogue of light and shadow, as if the furniture is designed to quietly elevate the space—never dominating, but always contributing to an atmosphere of calm and order.Ideally suited for a bedroom inspired by mid-century modern style or a collector's interior with a touch of Scandinavian simplicity, the pair can be placed alongside an upholstered headboard, complemented by a brass-finished lamp and minimalist textiles in muted tones. They may also serve as universal side cabinets in a living room or study, best paired with light wooden or glass furnishings and soft, geometric rugs
