ABOUT PRODUCTID 3684
This pair of Biedermeier decorative compotes from Denmark, dating from circa 1900–1920, embodies the craftsmanship of early 20th-century decorative arts. Each compote features a substantial silver-plated brass base, filled with resin, and a cobalt blue cut crystal insert shaped into a multi-faceted rosette. The crystal glass captivates with its cool, saturated blue hue and mirror-like sheen, while the bases are adorned with raised floral motifs reflecting both neoclassical and romantic influences. The surface of the metal reveals a mix of matte and gently polished areas, highlighted by areas of natural patina, and the overall proportions—rounded, flared bowls resting on ornate, sturdy feet—create a harmonious and solid impression. The underside bears the signature of a Danish maker, attesting to its provenance and era. Both pieces are preserved in very good condition, showing only minimal wear consistent with age. These compotes echo the spirit of the turn of the century, as Biedermeier aesthetics shifted from strict classicism toward more atmospheric, expressive forms. The cobalt glass channels the cool depth
