This pair of ceramic bookends, designed by Dietmar Urbach in 1930 in Teplitz, is a striking example of Czech Art Deco craftsmanship. Each bookend features a goose in a playful, relaxed pose, rendered with stylized, geometric contours. The glazed ceramic is finished in a warm, ivory white with subtle grey shading and brown accents emphasizing the feather texture, while the beaks and feet are a vivid orange-red, serving as a bold color highlight. The base and vertical support are coated in a cool, bluish-grey glaze with a streaked, almost marbled effect and a semi-gloss finish that reflects the 1930s aesthetic.
