This set of two bookends from the 1960s exemplifies mid-century modern craftsmanship, distinguished by clearly hand-crafted character. Each bookend features a solid teak wood L-shape with gently rounded corners and a smooth, satin finish that emphasizes the natural wood grain and the rich, warm reddish-brown tone of teak. Atop each base sits a substantial brass elephant figurine—stylized yet true to natural proportions, reflecting the decorative sensibilities of the era. The brass elephants display a visible patina, with areas of natural oxidation and faint wear, accompanied by a matte, subtly textured surface interspersed with silvery and darker aged undertones, changing character with the shifting light.
