ABOUT PRODUCTID 29652
This pair of Murano glass bowls, designed by Dino Martens for Aureliano Toso in Italy during the 1950s or 60s, exemplifies mid-century artistic glassmaking. Each bowl is crafted from thick, hand-blown glass in the distinctive ‘tutti frutti’ style, with a translucent aqua base interwoven with splashes of yellow, green, blue, red, orange, white, and embedded silver leaf. Their shapes are organic and free-form, roughly square with softly rounded corners and gently undulating rims. The glossy surface reveals smooth textures interrupted by tactile inclusions and subtle asymmetries, testifying to the artisan’s hand. Each bowl retains its original manufacturer’s label. Dimensions: one bowl measures 13.5 cm in width and 5 cm in height; the other is 13 cm wide and 5.5 cm high. The overall condition is excellent for vintage glass, with only a small chip on the rim of one bowl and no evidence of restoration or cracks.
These bowls capture the spirit of Italian modernism—postwar Venice’s vibrancy, artistic freedom, and Dino Martens’ affection for color. Their swirling patterns and shimmering silver flecks evoke an era when glass was both utilitarian and a joyful expression of life. Each
