ABOUT PRODUCTID 29457
This pair of ceiling lights from Limburg, one of Germany’s leading glassworks, exemplifies the modernist design ethos of the 1960s. Each pendant features a large, octagonal shade crafted from thick, hand-blown transparent glass, intersected by bold black iron grid lines. The highly polished, clear glass accentuates both light diffusion and the faceted, crystalline structure. The upper section is finished with a smooth, polished brass cylinder, providing a warm, golden accent that contrasts with the matte black grid. The lamps are suspended from a simple black cord, and their construction—marked by precise, geometric divisions—emphasizes their modernist character. Clean glass-to-metal transitions, absence of visible wear or restoration, and a factory label (model 1696, larger than typical examples) confirm the pair’s excellent vintage condition. These lights embody the architectural discipline of German modernism: the glass tells the story of an era when illumination was meant to be both functional and visually articulate. The octagonal form with its black grid recalls Bauhaus influences—geometry, clarity, function without ornamentation. The polished brass subtly reflects light, while the glass structure casts a grid of reflections across walls and ceilings, as if each lamp invites a play of shadow and light reminiscent of the 1960s. The pendants could be suspended above a dining table or in a spacious living area, where their geometric form can be properly showcased
