ABOUT PRODUCTID 28128
This set of two Cone Chairs, designed by Verner Panton for Gebrüder Nehl in Germany during the 1950s, represents an icon of postwar modernism. The construction features a distinctive geometric cone shape that seamlessly transitions from the seat into a high, enveloping backrest, creating a sculptural and cohesive silhouette. Each chair rests on a star-shaped, four-point stainless steel base, lending a visual lightness while ensuring stability. The dominant matte pink upholstery, with its velvety finish, contrasts with the vivid, high-saturation orange seat cushions, resulting in a striking color-block effect. Synthetic textiles blend harmoniously with the smoothness of the metal, underscoring the minimalist character of mid-century modern style. Proportions – 60 × 60 cm with a height of 85 cm – provide comfortable seating for both private and semi-public interiors. Condition: very good, with minimal signs of use typical for vintage furnishings; upholstery has been professionally cleaned and restored. The Cone Chairs tell the story of the bold 1950s, when design embraced experimentation in both form and color. The conical body seems to spin lightly in space, while the combination of pink and orange recalls the optimism and modernity of the emerging mid-century aesthetic
