ABOUT PRODUCTID 33172
This pair of decorative ceramic citrus fruits – a lemon and an orange – are hand-crafted and signed by Albert Ferlay for the Vallauris workshop, produced in France in the 1960s. Each piece is finished in a saturated, glossy glaze: the lemon features a warm, bright yellow, while the orange offers a vivid, deep orange tone. Both fruits are adorned with large, sculpted leaves in a rich, dark green with pronounced veins and a high-gloss, almost wet appearance, joined to the fruit by a short brown stem for a naturalistic yet stylized look. The ceramic surfaces are smooth, the shapes slightly oversized and rounded, emphasizing their decorative, mid-century modern character. Each fruit is equipped with a discreet hole for hanging, making them suitable as wall pieces. The set is signed by both the artist and the Vallauris atelier, ensuring authenticity and collectible value. The pieces have undergone minor restoration, with lightly retouched chips visible on the edges of the leaves. These ceramics evoke the Mediterranean joy of the 1960s, when Vallauris in France thrived as a center for artists and artisans. Their saturated colors and lustrous finish reflect the era’s taste for bold accents and optimistic forms, emblematic of the French Riviera’s mid-century and pop-art spirit. The soft curves and intense hues offer a glimpse of a sun-drenched landscape, full of fruit and light, echoing the relaxed exuberance of their time. This set can be hung in a living room, dining area, or kitchen to
