ABOUT PRODUCTID 1594
This pair of desk inkwells from 1900–1920 exemplifies the luxurious writing accessories of the early twentieth century. Crafted from highly transparent, faceted crystal glass, the two cubic vessels are presented on a glass tray with a dedicated groove for pens or writing tools. The inkwells are defined by their symmetrical, sharply edged forms and precise flat cuts, with starburst motifs etched on the top surfaces—an homage to late Art Nouveau and emerging Art Deco styles. Inside each inkwell, a deep cobalt-blue liner introduces a subtle accent of color, contrasting with the dominant cool translucence of the crystal. The juxtaposition of smooth, polished planes and cut textures enhances the play of light across the set. Designed to hold ink and water, the set also provides practical storage for writing implements. The condition is excellent, with no signs of damage or wear. These inkwells echo the spirit of early twentieth-century European ateliers: function is paramount, but refinement is never sacrificed. The cool brilliance of the crystal and the geometric clarity of the cuts evoke an era when the act of writing was a daily ritual, and the study a place of quiet focus. The blue liners suggest ink and water—two essential elements for correspondence in a time when every letter carried personal significance. Meticulous details and symmetry reflect a devotion to order, while the glassy sheen captures and refracts light, as if holding a fragment of history within. This set would be well suited to
