ABOUT PRODUCTID 20402
This pair of late 19th-century French Empire wall-mounted candelabra exemplifies the marriage of decorative richness and technical precision. Cast in bronze and fire-gilded, they feature a warm, lustrous gold tone with a high-gloss finish, characteristic of this elaborate technique. Each candelabrum is designed with two adjustable arms ending in wide, scalloped drip pans and ribbed candle holders, while the central mounting is adorned with a stylized urn and a cascade of floral and acanthus motifs. The surface is predominantly smooth and polished, with sharply defined reliefs that catch the light, and subtle patina and gentle wear on the raised elements attesting to their age. The underside bears the signature of the bronze workshop, confirming their provenance. Both pieces are in very good condition, with all original elements intact and no visible damage. These candelabra speak in the voice of the French Empire – a period enamored with monumental symmetry and decorative abundance. Their gilded arms and classical motifs evoke the ambiance of Parisian salons, where candlelight reflected off gleaming bronze, creating a mood of theatrical grandeur and ceremonial elegance. Every detail – from the gently curving arms to the urn motif – tells the story of 19th-century France, where master craftsmanship intersected with a pursuit of harmony and representativeness. They may be paired with a grand piano, a large gilded mirror, or placed above a dressing table to emphasize the historical character of the interior
