ABOUT PRODUCTID 30
The pair of Bau 971-504/H ceiling or wall lamps is a design by Klaus Michalik for the Swedish company Stockmann Orno from the 1960s. Each lamp features a cylindrical body of glossy, golden brass with a mirror-like finish and a large, matte opal glass globe. The body is adorned with a regular series of vertical slots that serve both decorative and ventilation functions. The round mounting plate and precise, visible screws emphasize the constructive clarity and craftsmanship. The lamps measure 25 cm in diameter and 28 cm in height. Both are preserved in very good condition, with no visible signs of use, tarnish, or damage; all elements remain authentic and original, with no evidence of restoration. This pair of lamps echoes the voice of Scandinavian design from the 1960s: the brass reflects light like a calm water surface, contrasting with the velvety white opal glass. The simple, geometric form arranges itself in a quiet rhythm, suggesting an ordered everyday life and a respect for function. The regular slots—like the measured breath of the era—reveal a fascination with engineered detail, while the whole exudes a discreet aura of modernism guided by the logic of material and light. The Bau lamps can be used either as ceiling or wall fixtures—well suited above a dining table, in a hallway, or as side lighting in a living room. They pair well with light-toned wood, geometric mid-century furniture, and textiles in muted colors. For a cohesive look, they can be matched with other brass accents or iridescent glass elements to underscore the modernist line of the interior. In eclectic settings, they may serve as a subtle highlight against deep-colored walls or textured wallpapers, while in minimalist spaces, their organic form softens the austerity with gentle, sculptural presence.
