ABOUT PRODUCTID 37967
This pair of French mantel garnitures from the late 19th century (circa 1880–1900) embodies the neoclassical form of amphorae, characteristic of the period’s refined taste. Each piece features a body crafted from dark patinated metal—likely zinc alloy—with a deep bronze-black hue, highlighted by subtle golden undertones. The surface is matte with a slight satin sheen, showing gentle patina and minor wear consistent with age. The ornate neoclassical handles and lids, topped with stylized finials, display intricate relief ornamentation. The amphorae are set on fluted classical pedestals, resting on square marble bases in a light beige tone with warm, reddish-brown veining. Four small, black, spherical feet support each base, lending an architectural precision to the composition. The proportions are balanced, and the decorative detail is in keeping with the neoclassical style. The pair is preserved in very good condition, with no major damage or repairs—a few minor signs of use and age only enhance their authentic antique character. These amphorae speak in the voice
