This pair of wall sconces by N-Leuchten, produced in Germany in the 1970s, exemplifies the era's approach to modernist functional design. Each lamp is constructed from lacquered steel in a cool, neutral white, intersected by a polished horizontal strip of chromed aluminum. The rectangular bodies are softened by slightly inward-bent edges, which create a subtle three-dimensional effect and emphasize the architectural intention of the design.
