ABOUT PRODUCTID 28955
This pair of Czech bedside tables from the 1960s exemplifies mid-century modern design with bold contrasts and meticulous construction. The compact, rectangular shape with softly rounded corners rests on a low plinth. Original black opaline glass tops, highly polished and mirror-like, reflect light and give an architectural presence. The sides and base are finished in a deep, cool black. Door fronts are veneered in warm, medium-dark brown wood with a subtle satin sheen, framed by narrow golden-yellow border lines. Rounded resin handles in a saturated amber tone provide a distinctive and subtle color accent. Doors are mounted on concealed piano hinges, ensuring a seamless look and solid construction. The proportions are balanced and compact, with doors occupying most of the front and opening wide to reveal storage for essentials. The set is in very good condition after complete restoration, showing only minimal surface scratches on the glass; one door is set at a slight angle, a purely visual nuance that does not affect use. These tables speak of the 1960s, when modernity embraced boldness in both form and materials. Black and amber, gleaming glass and warm wood are combined unapologetically yet harmoniously, evoking interiors where light, color, and function were equally important.
