This pair of salt cellars from the 1930s, crafted by the esteemed Hohmann & Katz (HOKA) manufactory in Pforzheim, exemplifies refined interwar European tableware. The bodies are cast from nickel silver (alpaca) with a softly matte, silvery finish, highlighted by a noble, natural patina developed over time. The openwork decoration features a flowing, late Art Nouveau plant motif—stylized leaves and berries arranged in a geometrically balanced composition. Each cellar stands on four spherical feet and is topped with a large, circular handle. The focal point is the original cobalt blue glass inserts, their deep hue providing a striking contrast to the cool metallic framework. The precision of the casting and the seamless integration of glass and metal reflect the high standards of German artisanal craftsmanship.
