This pair of late 19th-century French silver salt cellars embodies the refined tradition of classic French silversmithing. Each piece is crafted in silver and bears the Minerva hallmark, denoting state silver standard, as well as the maker's mark. Their rounded, bulbous forms rest on low, circular pedestal bases, finished with gently flared rims. The exterior surfaces are adorned with ornate repousse patterns of acanthus leaves and stylized floral motifs, typical of the Neo-Rococo and late Victorian decorative language. The front of each cellar features a reserved cartouche, ready for engraving a monogram or date. Inside, removable clear crystal liners with decorative faceted undersides add brilliance and subtle light play.
