ABOUT PRODUCTID 29500
This pair of wall lamps produced by Limburg in Germany during the 1970s features shell-shaped shades crafted from opaline glass. The glass surface is a uniform, soft white with a subtle matte finish that gently diffuses light. Distinctive, evenly spaced ribbed grooves radiate from the base to the edge, closely echoing the texture of a natural shell. The shades are mounted on discreet metal bases, invisible from the front, preserving the sculptural purity of the design. Harmonious proportions and a fan-like silhouette reinforce the modern, minimalist character typical of modernist and Bauhaus-influenced lighting. Each wall lamp accommodates a single E27 bulb (max 60 W, LED compatible). Height and width: 21 cm, depth: 11 cm. Very good vintage condition – the glass shows no visible damage, and only minor, age-consistent wear is present on the metal bases.
These lamps evoke the spirit of the 1970s, when German design championed clarity of form and practical sophistication. The opaline glass shades, reminiscent of shells lifted from a modernist reverie, recall an era when light was intended to be both functional and atmospherically diffused—instilling a sense of calm and domestic ease. The sculptural lines and subtle rhythm of the grooves suggest gentle waves, paused on the wall, bringing a quiet softness to contemporary interiors.
