ABOUT PRODUCTID 4526
This pair of wall sconces, designed by Motoko Ishi for German manufacturer Staff Leuchten in the 1970s, is a compelling example of space age and late modernist aesthetics. Each sconce features an octagonal, faceted base made from highly polished, chromed plastic, with sharp, geometric lines and a subtle black accent along the bottom edge. The glass shade is clear with a slight smoky tint, taking on a multifaceted, diamond-like form that echoes the base’s geometry. The construction is precise, with seamless transitions between materials and crisp, angular profiles. Both sconces are fitted with new E14 bulbs. Dimensions per sconce: 12 cm height, 12 cm width, and 19 cm depth. The condition is excellent, with no visible signs of wear, damage, or restoration. The bold geometry and cool chrome sheen evoke the spirit of the 1970s, a decade captivated by futuristic visions and technological optimism. As light plays across the sconce’s faceted glass, these objects seem to narrate the story of an era fascinated by space exploration and advanced materials. Their precise forms and minimalist details create an atmosphere of clarity and modernity, as if the mirrored surfaces were still reflecting the aspirations of their time. Motoko Ishi’s sconces can be paired with mid-century modern or contemporary interiors, complementing furniture with clean lines and bold colors, as well as glass or polished metal accents. They may be placed symmetrically on either side of a bed, sofa, or mirror, accent
