This pair of ceramic vases, designed by Eva Strömberg for the Swedish manufacturer Upsala Ekeby, illustrates Scandinavian design from the 1960s. The set consists of two vessels: one elongated, bottle-shaped vase and one compact, globular vase. Both are crafted from stoneware and finished in a warm, earthy dark brown glaze with subtle speckling and a semi-matte sheen. Hand-thrown on the potter’s wheel, the surfaces reveal faint horizontal lines, while reddish-brown accents at the rims and bases add depth to the color and highlight the material’s texture. The proportions are clean and harmonious, free from superfluous ornamentation. The construction is solid, with no visible damage and only minor traces of gentle use typical for vintage objects. The vases are preserved in very good condition.These vases echo the quiet voice of 1960s Sweden, when simplicity and natural materials were valued above decorative excess.
