This pair of Japanese Imari porcelain vases from the Meiji period (late 19th century) features a classic baluster form with a wide, flared neck and scalloped rim. Crafted in the Arita-Yaki tradition, the vases display a high-gloss, smooth glaze that accentuates their refined surface. The dominant palette includes vibrant cobalt blue, deep iron red, and white, accented by touches of gold and green. Each vase is richly adorned with hand-painted figural panels depicting samurai warriors in traditional attire, set against stylized landscapes with maple leaves and architectural details. The panels are framed by intricate floral motifs—chrysanthemums, peonies—and geometric lattice and wave patterns.
