ABOUT PRODUCTID 16916
This pair of French vases from the third quarter of the 19th century encapsulates the essence of historicism and Napoleon III style, referencing classical forms in the novel idiom of its era. Crafted from opaque glass in a vivid, cool turquoise hue, they feature a smooth, glossy surface and harmoniously proportioned silhouette with a broad, high foot tapering into a conical, flared bowl. The lower portions are encircled by brownish-red bands with delicate rows of white dots, accentuating the distinct lines of the foot and rims. The upper body is adorned with hand-painted neoclassical ornamentation: gold and black guilloche bands, black-and-white medallions with centrally placed red-orange ovals, as well as stylized foliate details and fleur-de-lis, all laid out symmetrically with artisanal precision, typical of 19th-century French craftsmanship. A prominent ringed stem evokes the canon of classical urns. The vases’ surfaces remain free from any visible signs of use, scratch, or loss
