ABOUT PRODUCTID 4408
The pair of Spirelli vases, designed by Ryszard Serwicki for Huta Szkła Gospodarczego “Ząbkowice” in the 1970s, exemplifies Polish pressed glass defined by its bold form and thoughtful decoration. Crafted from mass-colored glass in a deep cobalt shade, both vases display a semi-gloss surface with a subtle, elegant sheen. A pronounced spiral relief encircles the entire body—from the wide, gently flared rim, through the rounded bowl, down to the substantial, stable foot with a distinctive ringed transition. Their proportions are harmonious: heights of 22.5 and 23 cm, diameters of 12 and 11.5 cm, and a base diameter of 10 cm, with slight differences highlighting their handcrafted character. The glass is smooth to the touch, while the raised spiral motif adds tactile interest. There are no signs of wear or damage; the vases remain in excellent, original condition. These vases echo the voice of Polish modernism from the 1970s, embracing bold color and geometric ornamentation. The spiral motif, reminiscent of a slow dance of light across the cobalt surface, speaks of an era eager for modernity and formal experimentation. Each vase, almost a twin to the other, carries subtle individual distinctions—suggesting the memory of the craftsman’s unique touch in the glass. The Spirelli vases can be paired with other mid-century modern objects: a low sideboard in light wood, a simple graphic on the wall, or a lamp with a milky glass shade. As a duo, they work well on a marble tabletop, windowsill, or as a centerpiece in a vintage glass collection. They may be combined with green plants or single branches to enhance the intensity of the cobalt color. The vases will suit both minimalist and eclectic interiors, where they can serve as a bold, decorative focal point.
