ABOUT PRODUCTID 33828
This pair of vases, designed by Ludwik Fiedorowicz for the Staszic Glassworks in the 1980s, exemplifies Polish postmodern design that merges expressive color with geometric freedom. Each vase stands 25 cm tall with a diameter of 11.5 cm, crafted from layered, colored glass—its matte white body features spiraling pastel pink stripes that create a lively, swirling motif. The gently scalloped rim adds a decorative lightness to the silhouette. A bold, spherical stem and a wide, slightly concave foot are made from glossy, vibrant red glass, establishing a striking contrast with the matte finish of the upper section. The transition between the patterned body and the solid, glossy base highlights the craftsmanship and attention to detail characteristic of the Ząbkowice factory. Both pieces are preserved in very good condition, with no damage or signs of restoration, maintaining their original finish. The listed price refers to the set of two vases. These vases embody the spirit of the 1980s—a time when Polish art glass engaged in a dialogue with the Memphis and Pop-Art movements while preserving its own commitment to craftsmanship. The pastel spirals seem to recount an era of optimism and playful form, typical of late twentieth-century design. The glossy, intensely red base radiates the energy of the period, while the matte, subtly patterned body brings in a graphic lightness—as if the vase, like a stage prop, is both an eye-catcher and a subtle companion to everyday life. The vases could be displayed on a 1970s or 1980s sideboard, surrounded by geometric sculptures or minimalist ceramics to emphasize their postmodern heritage. They would work well in an
