ABOUT PRODUCTID 29445
This pair of wall lamps, designed by Helena Tynell for Limburg in the 1970s, exemplifies the distinctive mid-century modern aesthetic rooted in German modernist tradition. The thick molded glass shades, in a light amber with a subtle champagne hue, present a dynamic bubble texture on the front and ribbed geometric sides that enhance both tactile and visual interest. Their round, gently domed silhouette measures 26 cm in diameter and 13 cm in depth, set on discreet metal bases that remain invisible from the front. The glossy finish accentuates the interplay of light across the textured surface. Both lamps are signed, authentic period pieces, free from visible chips, cracks, or significant wear, and the glass retains its original clarity and sheen. Very good vintage condition, with no signs of heavy use. These lamps echo the spirit of the 1970s, when modernist design sought sensuality in material and form. The bubble glass—like air trapped in time—tells of a fascination with light: each rounded detail captures reflections, spreading a soft, diffused glow. Under Tynell’s direction, Limburg’s production blurred the line between function and sculpture, allowing light and shadow to interact with the glass’s tactile surface. These lamps might whisper stories of homes where illumination was as much about atmosphere as it was about utility. A mid-century modern or collector’s Bauhaus
