ABOUT PRODUCTID 16585
This pair of ceramic wall sconces from Poland, dating to the 1970s, stands as a distilled example of late modernist design. Each features a robust, softly rounded triangular base in glazed ceramic, finished in a warm sandy beige with marbled streaks of cream and light brown, the glossy glaze amplifying the depth and complexity of the pattern. The glass shades are spherical, perfectly opaque and white, perched seamlessly atop the ceramic base to create a measured visual contrast between textured ceramic and smooth glass. The union of materials and forms exemplifies late-modernist functionalism as well as a subtle play with the rules of geometry. The sconces house E14 bulb sockets, and each measures 16 cm in height, 17 cm in width, and 13 cm in depth. Both lamps are in very good original condition, with no chips or damage to the glazing or glass, and all structural details remain authentic and intact.
These sconces capture the voice of 1970s Polish modernism, a period defined by geometry, honest functionality, and a balanced decorative presence. The substantial, sculptural ceramic bases evoke the search for tactility and warmth within the era's restrained aesthetic, while the opaline glass globes diffuse light into a soft, inviting glow. Every aspect speaks of a fascination with color, texture,
