ABOUT PRODUCTID 26190
This pair of wall sconces, designed by Jo Hammerborg for Fog & Mørup in Sweden in the 1960s, exemplifies mature mid-century modern design. The construction features a combination of satin-finished, golden brass and smooth, transparent glass globes in a subtle amber tone. Rectangular brass wall plates and cylindrical arms contrast with the rounded glass shades, creating a clear, geometric composition. The brass elements display a natural patina, characteristic of original pieces from the era. Wiring is external, in a neutral white sheath, with switches integrated into the brass backplates. Dimensions: height 37 cm, width 20 cm, depth 14 cm. The sconces are preserved in very good condition—surfaces are free from damage or scratches, with the original structure and finish intact. These sconces echo the voice of the 1960s, when light was intended as both function and architectural statement. The satin brass gently reflects the surroundings, while the amber-tinted glass diffuses the glow, immersing interiors in a soft penumbra. The balanced, pared-down form speaks of harmony—geometric divisions and round globes create a dialogue between rigor and organic softness. The patina on the metal and the transparency of the glass evoke the atmosphere of Scandinavian interiors from the era: clarity, discipline, and a subtle sensuality of light. The sconces may serve as accent lighting in a living room, hallway, or above a console. They can be arranged symmetrically
