This pair of French wall sconces from the early 20th century exemplifies historicist design with strong Rococo and Louis XV influences. Crafted from solid patinated brass in a warm antique gold tone, the sconces feature richly ornamental forms and decoration. Each sconce has two elegantly S-shaped arms ending in candle holders with leaf-patterned drip pans, while the elongated backplates are adorned with rosettes and botanical reliefs. The surface alternates between smooth areas and intricate sculptural details, and the construction is robust with concealed joints. All original elements, including hooks for crystal drops, are present. The sconces show only minor signs of use and a natural patina, with no cracks or repairs—very good, collector’s condition.These sconces resonate with the spirit of the Belle Époque—their golden brass tells the story of evenings in French residences when candlelight cast atmospheric shadows on the walls.
