This pair of wall sconces from Poland, crafted in the 1960s, is a striking example of mid-century modern metalwork. The structure is formed from lacquered steel in a deep, cool-toned black with a matte finish and subtle satin reflections along the edges. The geometric layout combines vertical and horizontal lines with dynamic, hand-forged details: twisted rods, curled wire motifs, and fluted, flower-like bobeches beneath the bulb holders. Visible hammer marks, welds, and rivets emphasize the artisanal, handcrafted nature, while the proportions (height 45.5 cm, width 24 cm, depth 7 cm) give the lamps a sculptural presence on the wall. The overall condition is very good – only minor patina and slight surface irregularities are present, typical of original pieces from the 1960s. These sconces echo the spirit of Polish modernism: steel shaped by hand seems to narrate an era when function and form met on common ground.
