This pair of wall sconces from 1970s Poland epitomizes late modernism with a distinct space age spirit. The bases are crafted from glazed ceramic finished in saturated, deep black, studded with a dense constellation of white specks reminiscent of a starry sky or polished granite. The high-gloss surface reflects light and emphasizes the sculptural, organic, and asymmetric forms with their smoothly rounded lines. The globular glass shades, in pure, bright white, contrast crisply with the dark ceramic, and their glossy, smooth finish underscores the clarity of the design.
