ABOUT PRODUCTID 20180
This early 20th-century paperweight, crafted from pressed hyalite glass by the Ząbkowice Glassworks, features a three-dimensional, realistically rendered wild boar resting atop a rectangular base. The deep, matte black glass, with its cool undertone, accentuates the naturalistic fur texture and anatomically accurate proportions—a testament to the precise moldwork and realism characteristic of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The base is adorned with a relief pattern of oak leaves and acorns, adding a nature-inspired, Art Nouveau accent. The interplay of smooth surfaces and distinctly textured sculptural details highlights the object’s tactile and visual depth. There are no visible chips or damage; the piece is preserved in very good condition. This compact object carries the spirit of an era when utilitarian art intertwined with the motifs of the natural world, and everyday accessories took on the form of small-scale sculptures. The glass’s deep, almost velvety blackness absorbs the light, making the boar appear to keep watch in the shadows—a quiet emblem of strength and independence. The oak leaf relief tells a story rooted in Art Nouveau, when botanical inspirations permeated even the most functional items. The paperweight can be displayed on an oak-veneered desk or a classic bookshelf, forming a subtle accent among books and documents. It would pair well with period inkwells, brass lamps, or early 20th-century ceramics, but could also serve as a striking contrast in a modern setting, where its dark form stands out against lighter backgrounds. It may be combined with minimalist accessories to emphasize its collectible status and sculptural presence.Height: 6.5 cm, length: 11.5 cm, width: 8 cm. For maintenance, gently wipe with a dry or slightly damp cloth, avoiding chemicals that could affect the glass’s matte finish.
