The ALINE 40 pendant lamp, designed by Afteroom in 2022, exemplifies a contemporary take on Scandinavian minimalism. The shade is crafted from frosted acrylic with a 40 cm diameter, softly diffusing light across a seamless surface. The upper part is finished with a satin-brushed aluminum ring, and the lamp is suspended on a 3-meter black textile cable. Its construction features a gently tapered cylindrical form, with precise transitions between metal and acrylic that highlight attention to detail and refined craftsmanship. The meeting points of the materials are clean, and the lamp’s surface remains smooth and uniform. ALINE 40 communicates visual calm and order. Its form is restrained but distinctive—the interplay of matte white and satin metal evokes a balance between light and shadow. The lamp appears as a floating cylinder in the space, whose presence subtly enhances the character of the interior without overpowering it. The minimalist geometry and discreet metallic accent suggest a design discipline characteristic of contemporary Scandinavian lighting. It would work well above a dining table, in a living room, or in a spacious hallway, where its pure line and neutral palette allow for combinations with other aluminum, light wood, or glass elements.
