This hanging lamp from Hillebrand, made in the 1970s, stands as an example of mid-century modern design with subtle space age influence. Its structure features a geometric, eye-shaped brass frame with a soft satin finish, enveloping a broad, shallow dome shade crafted from matte black lacquered metal. The harmonious composition is further enhanced by its continuous elliptical outline and a lower brass hemispherical diffuser, fastened neatly with visible brass screws. The top is finished with a slightly glossy black ceiling canopy and a flexible, ribbed black suspension cord, diverging from traditional ceiling lamp conventions. The choice of brass with preserved patina and smoothly finished metal surfaces, coupled with elongated horizontal proportions (73 cm wide, 55 cm high, 51 cm deep), accentuates the piece’s sculptural, architectural presence.
