ABOUT PRODUCTID 9396
The Charlottenborg PH 6 1/2-6 pendant lamp was designed by Sophus Frandsen, Ebbe Christensen, and Poul Henningsen for Louis Poulsen in Denmark in the late 1970s. Its construction is based on a system of four concentric, gently curved shades made of aluminum, with proportions precisely calibrated for optimal light diffusion. All visible surfaces are finished in a uniform, cool matte white, emphasizing the minimalist, modernist character of the piece. Slim, brushed metal supports separate the shades, introducing subtle rhythm and metallic detail. The ensemble is completed by a cylindrical canopy and discreet white suspension cord. The lamp has been fully restored – in excellent condition, with no visible signs of wear, discoloration, or damage; the wiring has been replaced, and the fixture has been checked by an electrician and is ready for use. This lamp embodies the pursuit of perfect light—one that does not glare but creates a gentle, even glow. Its balanced, geometric lines speak in the voice of Scandinavian modernism from the 1970s, where timeless function meets precision of detail. The shades form a sculptural, harmonious silhouette, and the cool white finish reflects light in a way that preserves clarity even on overcast days. The lamp echoes the atmosphere of Copenhagen’s exhibition halls, where light was meant to shape space and ambiance without overwhelming it. The Charlottenborg PH
