ABOUT PRODUCTID 33232
This pendant lamp, designed by Bent Nordsted and produced in Denmark in the 1970s, embodies the mature Scandinavian modernism of the mid-century period. Its construction features a series of concentric, horizontally arranged discs made of aluminum and copper, finished in a warm, champagne-gold satin matte. Central cylinders in soft white provide contrast and enhance light diffusion, while the largest lower disc gently spreads light and accentuates the lamp’s sculptural detail. The lamp is suspended from a black textile cord, accompanied by a metal ceiling rose in a matching tone. With a diameter of 47 cm and height of 25 cm, all elements join seamlessly without visible screws or junctions, emphasizing craftsmanship. The lamp is in very good vintage condition, showing only minimal discoloration and subtle patina typical for aluminum of its era.The lamp’s form expresses the calm rhythm of geometric repetition, typical of the 1970s when Danish design sought harmony between light and space. The concentric rings create an airy, rhythmic structure – as if narrating a story of light that, in Scandinavia, was always meant to be soft and diffused, shaping an atmosphere of clarity and balance. The satin surface of the aluminum reflects light in a subtle way, while the warm metallic tones evoke the ambience of Danish interiors, where function prevails over unnecessary ornament. The lamp can be suspended above a dining table or in a living room styled in the spirit of mid-century modern, where pale woods, simple forms, and neutral palettes of beige or grey will highlight its modernist pedigree. It would also work well in
