This Czech pendant lamp from the 1960s is a representative example of classic mid-century modern, combining structural simplicity with attention to detail. The broad, shallow glass shade is finished in matte ivory, traversed by radially arranged linear patterns in translucent, cool-hued azure that introduce a sense of movement and lightness. Alternating matte and semi-transparent glass sections emphasize the interplay of light. The suspension and ceiling canopy are crafted in warm-toned cream plastic with a soft satin finish, while the slender metal stem, brass-toned, subtly contrasts with the cool shades of the glass. The lamp’s proportions are wide and balanced: a 60 cm diameter shade hangs from a light, 48 cm-long support, giving the whole piece an extremely delicate profile. Fittings are minimal—just a central metal cap and a modest canopy at the ceiling—so that technical elements remain visually integrated. Preserved in excellent condition, the lamp shows no visible damage or restorations to the glass or plastic; only the faint, natural traces of age characteristic of the period can be found. The lamp captures the spirit of postwar Czechoslovakia, where light held symbolic value as a marker of modernity and optimism. The
