The pendant lamp by Strangfeld & Gregor Radeberg, produced in Germany in the 1960s, exemplifies a German take on Japonist design. Its construction features a rectangular lantern-shaped shade made from frosted glass panels in an ivory white tone with a subtle, warm yellowish hue. A delicate, etched geometric pattern near the lower edge adds understated decoration, while the glass panels are joined by small, wood-colored or wood-effect spacers and screws, emphasizing the natural, Japan-inspired aesthetic. Both the top and bottom edges are flat and sharply defined, and the lamp is suspended from a matte beige or light brown cord and canopy, harmonizing with the shade. Dimensions are 19 cm high by 14 cm wide, with a 35 cm cord. The E27 socket allows for standard light bulbs. The lamp is preserved in very good original condition, with discoloration and patina typical of age; there are no signs of restoration or manufacturer’s signature. This lamp quietly tells the story of the 1960s, when European modernism turned an attentive eye toward the aesthetics of the Far East.
